Thanksgiving

The Holiday season is quickly approaching us. I think as we age, time speeds up. Remember saying I cannot wait until I get my drivers license? I cannot wait until I turn eighteen, then twenty-one, for me, I looked forward to twenty-five as well (my insurance rates would decrease). Those age milestones made life seem as if it was moving about as fast as a sloth moves. The next “nearly” twenty-five years, I do not know where they went. Those years passed in what seemed like the blink of an eye.

Life changes so dramatically without even realizing the change. Have you ever looked at your “friends” list on Facebook and realized how many of those people are no longer with us? I have, not intentionally, it has been while inviting people to this blog. I have done it several times. Each time, trying to reflect on how I met each person, even just the slightest glimpse of a memory shared would, to me, bring them back briefly.

That brings me to Thanksgiving. For the next six days, I am going to try extremely hard to post what I am thankful for. Thanksgiving should be celebrated every day, not just the last Thursday of November. I challenge you to do the same. You do not have to post it publicly; you can if you choose to. Let’s try to slow down the hands of time by consciously stopping for just a few minutes each day for the next six days to be thankful. If you are not comfortable posting what you are thankful for, write it down somewhere. Consciously leave a glimpse of a memory, one day it may be a blessing to someone else by bringing you back briefly.

Day 1 of Thanksgiving: I am thankful for each new day as it is an opportunity to be better than the day before.

The lesson: Do not wish your life away. It goes by quickly enough. Allow yourself time to remember, document important memories. Be thankful every day!

Have a great day, Toodle-loo
